A Request for Support for the Japan Toy Museum
Preserving Toy Culture for the Future
Since opening in 1974, the Japan Toy Museum has been dedicated to collecting and preserving toys and dolls from Japan and around the world, while sharing their charm and cultural significance with visitors.
On November 10, 2026, our museum will celebrate its 52nd anniversary. This milestone would not have been possible without the kindness and support of so many people over the years. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us.
Toys and dolls embody the daily lives, aspirations, and wisdom of people from different eras and regions. They serve as invaluable resources for understanding the history and cultures of Japan and the wider world. Now, as I approach my 88th birthday, I remain committed to researching and preserving the precious collection I have built over more than six decades, together with the many items generously donated by others, so that their cultural significance can be passed on to future generations.
To ensure the long-term future of the museum, I intend to pursue incorporation, creating a framework that will enable a broader community to support our work. I also look forward to launching initiatives such as crowdfunding campaigns dedicated to cultural heritage preservation and hope to bring new projects to life in collaboration with our supporters.
As a first step, we have now established a way for people to make donations to the museum.
Your contributions will help support the museum’s overall operations and its ongoing work to preserve toy culture for future generations.
Donations are welcome at any time, in any amount, and as often as you wish.
We sincerely appreciate your generosity.
